Germany has apparently listed Georgia as a “risky” country.
According to the Deputy Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaniani, there was nothing alarming in this, as there are also some developed European countries on the list that are also viewed as “risky” by Germany.
“Such lists are drafted annually and if we read it carefully we will find that Poland, Romania and France are also listed together with Georgia,” Zalkaniani says.
Speaking about the reasons behind this dubious designation, the deputy minister stressed that such an attitude might be attributed to the uncontrolled situation within the occupied regions of Georgia.
“The fact that the government is unable to control the situation in the occupied regions is the initial cause of designating Georgia a risky country,” Zalkaniai said.
The German tourists were robbed in Mestia in September. Reports said that robbers took money and appliances.
As several residents of Mestia told The Messenger, locals were demanding a timely investigation and strict punishment for the robbers. According to the source, locals stressed that each tourist is important for them, as tourism has become one of the most significant means of income for them.
