Georgia will start to construct five checkpoints on its border with Azerbaijan in late November, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said on Nov.10.

He made the remarks during the presentation of infrastructure projects implemented in the country in 2014.

Garibashvili added that it is also planned to construct a corresponding border infrastructure.

“The construction of five border checkpoints between Azerbaijan and Georgia will start under the EU Eastern Partnership program. At the same time, the border infrastructure on the border with Turkey will also be reconstructed,” he said. “The administrative building of the Border Police was reconstructed in 2014.”

Garibashvili added that 10 new border sectors: two on the border with Turkey, three – on the border with Armenia, two - with Azerbaijan and three – with Russia were constructed and commissioned in 2014.
