Bad weather is expected all over Georgia during the next few days. According to meteorologists, temperatures will drop throughout the country.
According to Georgia’s Department of Roads, the traffic has been closed on the Gudauri-Kobi-Stepantsminda-Lars section of the Georgian Military Road because of avalanche danger. The traffic was also closed on the Paravani pass.
On the Mleta-Gudauri and Kobi Stepantsminda road sections, movement of cars was permitted only by using tire chains.
Movement on the Rikoti pass is available for every kind of transport, except trailers and semi-trailers.
The highway between Georgia and Russia has also been closed due to bad weather.
Heavy snowfall damaged the Svaneti region. According to Svaneti Governor Kakha Zhorzholiani, the roads were closed and electricity wires affected.
Based on recent information, the electricity supply was restored for all residents of Mestia and Svaneti, except for 220 subscribers.
The movement of vehicles on other roads is open.
Bad weather has caused problems in the seaside regions as well.
It was reported that the ports stopped receiving ships. However, according to the ports’ administration, during winter time it is a common thing and there is nothing to worry about.
