Defence Minister of Georgia Meets with Spanish Counterpart

The Defence Minister of Georgia paid an official visit to the Kingdom of Spain. Pedro Morenes Eulate hosted his Georgian counterpart at Spain’s Ministry of Defence.
At the beginning of the meeting Mindia Janelidze expressed his gratitude to his foreign colleague for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as Spain’s consistent support of Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. He also underlined the importance of the participation of Spanish monitors in the EUMM.
At the tete-a-tete meeting, the ministers discussed the prospects of developing bilateral cooperation. Cyber security, training and educational fields were one of the main topics at the meeting. Georgia’s Defence Minister extended an invitation to Pedro Morenes Eulate to send the Spanish military to Sachkhere PfP Mountain Training School.
The sides talked about Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration and the importance of the Substantial Package that Georgia received at the NATO Summit in Wales. Mindia Janelidze emphasized the importance of the involvement of the Spanish side in the implementation process of the Substantial Package.
The Defence Minister of Georgia delivered information to Morenes Eulate on the implemented and planned reforms at the Georgian MoD. The ministers also discussed the regional challenges and the crisis in Ukraine as well.
During the visit, the Georgian delegation plans to visit the Armoured Brigade. The Defence Minister of Georgia will also attend an exhibition of Spanish painter Augusto Ferrer-Dalmau and award Spanish writer Lucas Molina with the General Kvinitadze service medal.
