Producer Price Index for Industrial Products in Georgia February 2015

In February 2015 the Producer Price Index (PPI) for Industrial Products showed a 1.3 percent increase over January 2015. The index increased 5.4 percent compared to February 2014 and 72.6 percent over 2005 average. In the reporting period manufacturing was the main contributor to the increase of the monthly PPI. The prices for the section posted a 1.3 percent increase, resulting in a 1.08 percentage point growth of the overall index change rate. There was a comparable increase in prices for manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco products (1.2 percent) and manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (2.1 percent). The prices decreased for manufacture of chemical products (-5.4 percent). The price changes for the following sections had the most significant impact on the annual PPI change: • Manufacturing prices increased 7.8 percent, contributing 6.40 percentage points to the overall index percent change. In the reporting period the following subsections had the largest upward effect on the index in total: manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco products (13.6 percent), manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (7.5 percent) and manufacture of paper and publishing (26.5 percent); • Supply of electricity, gas and water: the prices were 3.9 percent lower, with a relevant contribution of -0.51 percentage points to the overall index.
