Press Speaker of the Foreign Ministry Davit Kereselidze stated that German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Georgia in the second part of this year.
The official also touched upon the visit of the United States’ Secretary of State John Kerry to Georgia. He said that information concerning the coming date has not been specified yet.
“Negotiations concerning the issue are in action,” Kereselidze said.
Kereselidze spoke about Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili’s visit to Ukraine. According to him, the date of the visit has not been agreed to yet.
“We want the visit to have a positive outcome, that is why some issues should be settled beforehand,” Kereselidze stressed.
He added that before the PM visit, other ministers will be leaving for Ukraine. However, he refrained from identifying who they were.
Regarding the meeting between the Georgian and Russian presidents, according to Kereselidze, the issue was not on the agenda.
“I have heard rumors about the meeting of the Georgian and Russian Presidents. Press Spokesperson of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that diplomats are discussing this issue. However, I assure you, this is not true,” Kereselidze said.
