The Georgian government has simplified the visa restrictions that were adopted on September1, 2014, through which 24 foreign countries out of 120 were deprived of visa-free travel to Georgia.
Based on the draft elaborated by the Ministry of Justice and Economy, the role of the Foreign Ministry has increased with regard to issuing visas.
Together with the diplomatic missions, consular offices, and the Ministry of the Internal Affairs, the Foreign Ministry is likely to issue visas.
In the case that a foreign citizen fills-out an electronic visa application on the Foreign Ministry web-page, e-visa portal, and his appeal is approved, the ministry will issue an electronic visa.
The government plans to relieve the burden placed on the embassies who are issuing visas.
