Chief of GS visits Brussels

Chief of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces pays a visit to Brussels. Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze attended the European Union Military Committee session held at the level of chiefs of Defence. Georgia, has participated in the 28+6 format in the partnership session for the first time.
The Chairman of the European Union Military Committee opened the session. General Patrick de Rousiers expressed gratitude to the Georgian side for the contribution provided to the missions ongoing under the aegis of the EU. As the Chairman of the MC outlined, he had the opportunity to personally visit the Georgian units deployed in the Central African Republic. The General expressed hope that the fruitful cooperation will continue in the future as well. Chief of the General Staff of the GAF Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze made a speech at the session and highlighted the Georgian troop' involvement in the EU missions in Central African Republic and Mali and the forthcoming contribution.
The key topics of discussion were the missions led under the auspices of the EU, achieved progress and current challenges. Better organization of the EU missions, such as force planning and support, was also discussed.
In the frame of the visit, Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze will attend the NATO Military Committee Session in the NATO HQ and will hold bilateral meetings.
