Georgia takes steps to liberalize profit tax

Thursday, June 11
Georgia’s economic team is working on modifying the country’s profit tax rules, with the main goal to liberalise Georgia’s profit tax.

This was one of the key areas that needed addressing by the Georgian Government, said Georgia’s business community.

In response, Georgia’s Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said work was "in progress” to liberalise profit tax in Georgia.

"We are working on profit tax but we are not yet ready to present a draft law. However, we want to do significant liberalisation regarding profit tax,” he said.

As earlier reported, the Government may use an Estonian model to guide the country as it modifies its profit tax rules.

Detailed information about the changes to Georgia’s profit tax will be announced in September, 2015. (Agenda.ge)
