MIA publishes crime statistics

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia published crime statistics for the June and January-June periods, 2015. The statistics consists of the data provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs as well as information collected from all investigative agencies in the country: Ministry of Internal Affairs, General Prosecutor’s Office, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Corrections.
In June of 2015, in the whole 3089 crime cases have been registered, from them 1386 cases were solved. Case-solving index is 44.87%. In comparison with the results of the same period of the last year, the number of crime decreased by -0.87%.
According to investigations carried out by MIA territorial units, in June 2015, 2016 crime cases were registered by them, out of which 1203 cases were solved. Case-solving index is 59.67%. In comparison with the results of the same period of the last year, the number of crime increased by +0.70%.
The MIA states that an increase in crime cases is mainly caused by registered crimes for domestic violence, illicit purchase of firearms and related offences.
In the period between January-June 2015, according to all the investigative agencies of Georgia 17, 434 crimes were registered, 9772 cases are solved. The index of the solved cases is 56.05%. Criminal cases decreased by -4.93% in comparison with the same period of the previous year.
In the same period, MIA territorial units registered 12205 criminal cases. 8137 cases were solved. The index of the solved cases is 66,67%. It should be noted, that criminal cases decreased by -5,25% in comparison with the same period in previous year.
