Former GFF president seeks post again

Merab Zhordania, the former President of Georgia’s Football Federation (GFF), has confirmed that he will take part in the Federation’s coming presidential elections on October three.
Merab Zhordania has already held a meeting with Lanchkhuti Governor Zaza Urushadze and President of Guria Regional Football Federation Kakha Ebralidze. The meeting was closed to the media.
According to Zhordania, he has already engaged in the election process in Guria.
“I am aiming for the president’s post,” Zhordania said, who ran the GFF in 1998-2005.
Apart from Zhordania, the Secretary General of the Football Federation Revaz Arveladze and footballer Levan Kobialshvili also plan to run for president.
The post became vacant since the President of the GFF Zviad Sichinava said that he was going to quit the post.
He made the statement about his resignation after the UEFA Super Cup match held in Tbilisi on August 11.
“Any person has to leave post at the peak, today is my peak,” Sichinava said after the game between Barcelona –Sevila.
According to him he did not seek reelection in the upcoming elections and would continue his activities in business.
The newspaper Prime Time reads that the UEFA has offered a 10-year contract to Zviad Sichinava.
According to the newspaper, if Sichinava agrees, they will sign the contract.
