Miss China semifinal to be held in Georgia

According to the National Tourism Administration, a team from Phoenix TV arrived in Tbilisi September 12 along with the girls from China and will be staying until September 22.

There are 16 participants in the semifinal, and which will be aired by the Chinese TV company Phoenix TV, which holds the rights to Miss Chinese Cosmos Pageant, one of the most popular events in China.

During their visit, participants will visit several parts of the capital and other sights in Georgia, and Phoenix TV will produce a film about their visit.

Participants have already had a tour of the old part of the capital.

The past ten years the event has previously been held in the United States, Australia, and European countries.

The Tourist Administration said the event will contribute to promote Georgia in China as a tourism destination. (dfwatch.net)



Works on Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway Turkish section to be finished next year

Construction works on the Turkish section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will be finished in the beginning of the year to come, - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has declared at a joint press-conference together with his Turkish counterpart in Baku.

“Azerbaijan and Georgia have done all that is needed. We are confident that by the end of this year or the beginning of the next year Turkey too will have done its part. This is a strategic project and is not only meant for the South Caucasus but also Central Asia. We have discussed these issues with Kazakhstan too. Tamaz Mechiauri blames the National Bank of depreciation

Tamaz Mechiauri, the Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee, states that the depreciation of the national currency is linked to the actions of the National Bank ,because they provided the government with misleading information.

"There are no significant factors which could have such an impact on the exchange rate. Now we are waiting for candidates to be represented for the Supervisory Board, they will have access to all the factors that affect the GEL exchange rate. First of all we need to have the right information, I think that the government does not have a right information," Tamaz MEchiauri said and underlined that he does not trust the national bank management. International competition 'Adam' officially announced

Media prize for cultural diversity in Eastern Europe – an international competition “Adam” financed by the German government was officially announced starting today.

The best films, television and online programs will be awarded in December. Deadline for applications is October 25. Various broadcasters, producing companies and directors can participate in the competition.

A similar competition existed only for members of European Union in the past. However, for the first time, 6 countries of Eastern Partnership program, including Georgia, will take part this year.

Phone conversation held between Georgian and Ukrainian presidents

A phone conversation has been held between Georgian and Ukrainian presidents. As Georgia’s presidential administration has informed InterPressNews, Giorgi Margvelashvili has put an emphasis on deepening Georgia-Ukraine bilateral relations.

According to the administration, Georgia’s President has expressed his support towards Ukraine’s territorial integrity, emphasizing that the Minsk Ceasefire Agreement must be fulfilled. According to him, it is significant to complete the Minsk agreement format in order to de-escalate the situation.

The presidents have also referred to the necessity of deepening bilateral relations, putting an emphasis on Euro-integration and regional cooperation intensification.
