In the framework of the “Speakers Program” of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia, the head of The Department of Psychological Selection and Monitoring of the MoD, Giorgi Sikharulidze, visited the National Defence Academy.
Mr Sikharulidze introduced the MoD psychological support program (dubbed “Shoulder to Shoulder”) to the students of the NDA Captain Career School and Junior Officer School. He talked about the suicide prevention program and elaborated on the issues facing those afflicted with post-traumatic stress disorder, highlighting the warning signs of suicide and its prevention measures.
The lecture continued in an interactive format, and students asked questions about the current situation in the Georgian Armed Forces and the ways to prevent and deal with the issues related to suicide.
“The project “Shoulder to Shoulder” was initiated by the Defence Ministry, and indicates how important it is to take care of each military service member of the Georgian Armed Forces. We must stand side by side and look out for each other’s lives,” Giorgi Sikharulidze said.
