Letters of Tbilisi 45th Public School to Georgian Soldiers
Friday, November 6
Another event was held within the project “Letters to Soldiers”. The II and III grade pupils of Tbilisi's 45th Public School wrote letters to Georgian soldiers participating in the “Resolute Support” mission in Afghanistan. Children of Senior Military Representative to Afghanistan, Colonel Giorgi Bliadze, Kesaria and Lasha also sit in on these classes.
The pupils handed over the letters to the brothers-in-arms of Kesaria and Lasha’s father – officers of the J-2 Intelligence Department of the General Staff of the GAF. The servicemen thanked the children for their support and spoke about the Georgian soldiers’ contribution in Afghanistan.
The pupils also gathered a huge package of toys to send to Afghan children and asked the men to give the toys to them.
The children of Tbilisi's Georgian-German “A-Z” School and Kutaisi's Andria Razmadze No 41st Physic-Mathematics Public School wrote letters to the Georgian peacekeepers as well.
“Letter to Soldiers” is a joint project of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education and Science, which is implemented by the students and has been supported by the Crime Prevention Centre since 2012. Under the project, children of public schools from Tbilisi and other areas of Georgia write letters to Georgian soldiers deployed in Afghanistan; the soldiers then reply to the school children. The goal of the project is to support Georgian military servicemen serving far away from their homeland.
