Besik Loladze’s Visit to Germany

The Deputy Minister of Defence of Georgia, Besik Loladze, is on an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany. The Chief of Bundeswehr Strategy and Military Operations Service, General Dieter Warnecke, hosted the Georgian Deputy Defence Minister.
During the visit, the sides discussed bilateral cooperation directions between the Georgian and Germany Defence Ministries and future plans. The German side reiterated its support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations.
Special attention was paid to the joint participation of the Georgian and German troops in the NATO-led international operation in Afghanistan. The German General thanked Georgia for its contribution to the mission and emphasized the high level of preparedness of Georgian soldiers.
Topics of discussion were the regional and global security challenges with focus on the terror attacks in Paris. The importance of joint efforts in combating terrorism was once again underlined at the meeting. Details of the Georgian Defence Minister’s visit to Germany in 26-27 November were also discussed.
In the framework of the visit to Germany, Besik Loladze attended the Berlin Security Conference and delivered a speech entitled “Hybrid Warfare – Lessons Learned”. By the end of this time in Germany, the Deputy Defence Minister will visit the Georgian military contingent in Wildflecken, where Bravo Company of the 32nd Battalion from the III Infantry Brigade is undergoing training for the Resolute Support mission alongside German troops.
