The Public Registry Service has suspended the registration process of the new Maestro TV Director General, Levan Gachechiladze. The registration was suspended for 30 days on the basis of the complaint of former Director Baia Gadabadze, who addressed the agency not to register a new director until the ongoing court dispute is over.
According to the Public Registry Service, the complained filed by Gadabadze was assessed by the Justice Minister and the registration process of Levan Gachechiladze as the company’s Director General was suspended for 30 days.
“Taking legal requirements into account, a decision on suspending the discussion over Levan Gachechiladze’s appointment was made in relation to Gadabadze’s statement,” the Registry reports.
Three days after becoming a majority shareholder in Maestro TV, Gia Gachechiladze held a meeting of his shareholders on February 4 and sacked then-Director of the channel, Baia Gadabadze, who, backed by some minority shareholders, has disputed the decision. As Gia Gachechiladze owns 55% of shares, Gadabadze was replaced by Giorgi Gachechiladze’ brother, Levan Gachechiladze.
According to the Public Registry, Gia Gachechiladze owned 25 percent of shares, but purchased 15 percent of the shares from Giorgi Ebralidze and 15 percent from Levan Chikvaidze. The other owners are Maka Asatiani (25 percent), Mamuka Glonti (15 percent), and Ekaterine Akobia (5 percent).
Shareholders Maka Asatiani and Mamuka Glonti support Gadabadze. The latter does not want to let the Gachechiladze brothers into the office, which is the property of Maka Asatiani.
The reporters of the Maetsro TV Company demand that Baia Gadabadze act as the Director General of the channel until the ongoing court dispute ends.
“We confirm that Baia Gadabadze is fully authorized to speak on behalf of the Maestro team. We hope the current developments will not create any obstacle for the channel’s functioning and we will be allowed to fulfill our professional obligations,’’ reads the statement released by Maestro journalists.
Maka Asatiani believes that the decision made by the Public Registry - to suspend the registration of Levan Gachechiladze as the Director - is fair.
“The main thing is that we will be able to work peacefully and processes will start to develop in legal frames,” she added.
