The Ministry of Finance detained six representatives of the tender-winning companies who had provided kindergartens in Georgia’s eastern town of Rustavi with falsified dairy products.
The Ministry said charges were filed against Ltd Real Products, Ltd Amirani XXI’s and Ltd GSN’s managers and employees.
The investigation revealed that the local entrepreneurs won an electronic tender to supply the kindergartens in Rustavi with dairy products.
The investigation continued that after gaining the official right to provide the kindergartens, in order to reduce expenses and increase income, the companies’ leadership violated technical rules in the process of producing the dairy products.
They used inappropriate components and cheap products and unhealthy mixtures for production, and provided the kindergartens with unhealthy butter and supplements.
The relevant law enforcement and health bodies have already removed the harmful products from all of the kindergartens.
“The consistence of butter in the National Bureau of Expertise of Levan Samkharauli has been studied. The expertise showed the butter contained a very low percentage of health fats, and instead of natural milk the producers used cheap vegetable oils,” the Ministry said.
If found guilty, the individuals will face 1 to 3 years of imprisonment.
