UAE low-cost airline opens new flights to Azerbaijan

Air Arabia, a low-cost airline of the UAE, is opening direct Sharjah-Baku flights, UAE media reported.

According to the reports, the launch of flights is a result of joint cooperation between Air Arabia, Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC and the authorities, and is aimed at the development of a new route linking Baku and Sharjah.

Air Arabia will start flights from Sharjah International Airport on March 16, 2017.

The flights will be operated four times a week.

On Thursdays and Sundays, flights from Sharjah will be at 7:55 (UTC/GMT +4) with arrival at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku at 10:50 (UTC/GMT +4). The return flight from Baku will be at 11:30 with arrival in Sharjah at 14:10.

On Tuesdays and Saturdays, flights from Sharjah will be at 14:55 with arrival at Heydar Aliyev International Airport at 17:50. On these days, the return flight from Baku will be at 18:50 with arrival in Sharjah at 21:30.

Tickets are already available for booking on the company’s official website. Sharjah-Baku-Sharjah round trip tickets will cost $273 on March 16-23.

Baku gives an opportunity to witness fusion of history and modern urbanism, Air Arabia Director General Adel Ali said in a press release.

“The opening of new Air Arabia flights will contribute to increasing trade volume and tourism between the two countries. We thank Azerbaijan’s authorities for all their efforts and cooperation which helped to launch a new route connecting Sharjah and Baku,” said Ali.
