New direct flights link Tbilisi and Kiev from December

Monday, November 21
New direct flights will link the two capital cities of Ukraine and Georgia from next month.

Georgian Civil Aviation Agency announced that DART Ukrainian Airlines will start direct flights from Kiev to Tbilisi from December 23.

The flights will be performed twice a week, on Fridays and Sundays.

Besides DART, other Ukrainian airlines such as Ukraine International Airlines and Yanair have been performing flights to Georgia.

DART was one of the airline companies that agreed with the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency to begin regular flights at Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport.

The other two new airlines were Russian low-cost airline Pobeda and Turkmenistan’s flag carrier Turkmenistan Airlines.

Pobeda Airlines performed its first direct flight on the route Rostov-Tbilisi-Rostov on November 1. Alongside with Aeroflot, S7 and Ural Airlines, Pobeda Airlines was the fourth Russian air company operating at Tbilisi International Airport.

As for the Turkmenistan Airlines the company postponed regular flights on the Ashgabat-Tbilisi-Ashgabat route due to "commercial reasons”.

In general from November 2016 to March 2017 Georgian airports were scheduled to carry out 239 flights - 15 percent more compared to the same period of last year.
