A large explosion took place at a mill in Poti, a port in the Samegrelo region of western Georgia, on Saturday afternoon.

Brigades of the Patrol Police and the Rescue Service worked at the site to extinguish minor fires. The nearby territory was blocked.

The Director of Poti Central Hospital, Thea Migineishvili, said that the injured men, aged 35 and 42, have received burns to their faces and the upper parts of their bodies.

“The injured have been placed in the diagnostic department and they are undergoing necessary treatment. Their condition is stable and they are under observation of doctors," she said.

As reported, the explosion occurred on the 7th floor and damaged two floors of the building.

The exact cause of the explosion has not been determined yet. However, according to one version of events, the explosion was due to a failing in the mill's power system. Another version says the fire broke out due to faulty electricity.

Law enforcements are investigating the case.
