After the introducing of the new 100-point system for drivers, the most fines in the space of a week were issued for the following four kinds of violations:
From July 1 to July 7, the drivers were most frequently fined for talking on a cell phone, ignoring safety belts, crossing median strips and the violation of traffic rules at crosswalks.
Most frequently, drivers violated the rules at crosswalks. A driver loses five points for the violation of this rule.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs compared the data from July 1 to July 7 to the number of violations recorded on 24-30 June.
The number of people talking on a cell phone when driving has been “drastically reduced” after the driving license score system came into effect, the Interior Ministry stated.
Offenses decreased by 1769 from 1 July to 7 July.
In particular, after activating of the score system, the patrol police fined 1672 drivers for talking on a cell phone.
A driver will lose 15 points on the driver's license for talking on a cell phone while driving.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs compared the data from July 1 to July 7 to the number of violations recorded on 24-30 June.
According to the data, 3441 fines were issued for talking on a cell phone while driving before the activation of the new system.
The Ministry hopes that the new regulations will halve the number of road accidents.
This will really happen if the patrol police have enough motivation and the legislation is appropriately enforced.
The police must not close their eyes to road violations, no matter who will commit the illegalities, whether they are an ordinary person or an official.
Rules alone will do nothing without strict and effective enforcement.
