A legendary American film director, script writer, musician and producer David Lynch will be visiting Georgia on November 18. His visit is planned in the framework of the establishment of David Lynch Foundation Caucasus.

David Lynch, 71, is considered one of the most important contemporary film directors. Many of his works have become cult films, including Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway, Wild at Heart and Inland Empire.

“I am looking forward to seeing you all in Georgia and we will have many get-togethers, and explain everything about Transcendental Meditation and its benefits for the human beings. It will be a beautiful trip,” stated Lynch via Facebook.

Bob Roth, Executive Director of David Lynch Foundation, will also accompany.

The David Lynch Foundation was founded by David Lynch himself in the US in 2005. Head offices have operated in the USA, the UK, France and Ukraine.

The David Lynch Foundation helps to prevent and eradicate all-pervasive epidemic of trauma and toxic stress among at-risk populations through promoting widespread implementation of the evidence-based Transcendental Meditation (TM) program in order to improve their health, cognitive capabilities and performance in life.

The effectiveness of the programs has been researched at leading medical schools, including Harvard Medical School, Stanford Medical School and Yale Medical School, and has received the endorsement of and support from private foundations and government agencies.

The David Lynch Foundation Caucasus established in Tbilisi on July 25, 2017 is combining Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. Giga Agladze, a Georgian film director and musician, is an executive director of the foundation in the Caucasus.

Within the frames of the visit, Lynch will launch a film festival and open a new Institute of Cinematography named after him. The project to launch an international Cinematography Institute named after Lynch is aimed at turning the quality of country's filmmaking education into a regionally leading position, said a release issued by the committee.

On November 20, Lynch will be visiting the night club Khidi for a Q&A session.

The screening of “Mulholland Drive” by David Lynch is planned at Amirani Cinema.

Beside these projects, the cooperation is also going to include initiatives for David Lynch Foundation's work on road safety and post-trauma rehabilitation internationally.

“I started Transcendental Meditation in 1973 and have not missed a single meditation ever since. It has given me effortless access to unlimited reserves of energy, creativity and happiness deep within. This level of life is sometimes called “pure consciousness”— it is a treasury. And this level of life is deep within us all,” states Lynch on an official website of the foundation.
