Georgia’s Wine Agency launches electronic certification system for entrepreneurs

The Georgian National Wine Agency is launching an electronic certification system for entrepreneurs which will enable them to fill the application for the certificate electronically, without visiting the agency.

The system will activate on February 1, 2018.

Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Giorgi Samanishvili, announced the information yesterday at a meeting with the representatives of wine companies in Georgia.

With the implementation of the electronic system, certification procedures will be simplified, the entrepreneur will not have to visit the agency. They can fill out the declaration through the Internet, apply and come to the agency to pick up a ready certificate,” Samanishvili said.

Wine companies have already been trained in a new, electronic certification system. In case of troubleshooting, the agency is ready to provide additional consultations.

Meanwhile, Samanishvili introduced the draft amendments of the "Grape Origin Alcoholic Drink and Grape Origin Spirit Certification Rules" to the wine companies. According to him, the amendments aim to improve product quality control.

At the meeting with winemakers, issues related to the amendments to the Law on Vine and Wine were also discussed.

In particular, from January 1, 2018, the tasting of all categories of export wines will be mandatory. Until now, it only concerned appellation wines. (agenda.ge)
