The patrol-inspector accused of beating his wife was not sentenced to preliminary detention.

The Prosecutor's Office stated that they requested the preliminary detention.

The judge sentenced the detainee to bail without pre-trial detention. He was detained on the basis of a ruling issued by the Tbilisi City Court.

On 4 January 2018, the defendant physically assaulted his wife in the presence of a child, after which she suffered severe physical pain.

The accused may have violated the Article 1261.2, which envisages domestic violence in the presence of a minor.

The Prosecutor's Office declared that the court ruling will be appealed in the Tbilisi Court of Appeal in order to request preliminary detention.



The rehabilitation process of Gudiashvili Square to start in two weeks

Tbilisi Mayor, Kakha Kaladze visited Lado Gudiashvili square, where he reviewed the detailed information about the planned works.

The project envisages rehabilitation of more than 30 historical buildings in the area.

Tbilisi Mayor visited the area with Irakli Bendeliani, Ilia Eloshvili and the director of the Tbilisi Development Fund Giorgi Baidarashvili.

Kakha Kaladze noted that after rehabilitation process is finished, the capital will have another convenient and attractive sight for tourists.

“There will be an attractive environment not only for tourists but also for the locals, living in the capital. This is the wealth of the city, which is supposed to be maintained. Rehabilitation of the historical part of Tbilisi is one of the main priorities of our policy. In the next 4 years, we are going to spend about 500 million GEL in this regard, "said Tbilisi Mayor.

Rehabilitation includes not only the facades of buildings, but also the 16th century basements, which will be rebuilt in an authentic manner. The rehabilitation of Gudiashvili Square is also planned within the framework of the project. The works will be completed in 2019.
