Luka Okros - Piano Recital

Piano Recital of the London-based Georgian pianist, Luka Okros will take place at the Grand Hall of the Tbilisi State Conservatoire on Friday April 13.

Luka Okros will bring some of the most famous pieces of the piano repertoire to life. He will be performing Prokofiev - Sonata Number 3, Op. 28 in A minor, Rachmaninov - Six Musical Moments, Op.16 and four ballads by Chopin.

Born in 1991 in Tbilisi, he began his piano studies at the age of 4. At the age of 5 Luka gave his first public performance and at 6 he made his debut with the Tbilisi State Orchestra under Revaz Takidze.

Luka graduated from the London Royal College of Music (2016) and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory (2013). He made Carnegie Hall debut at the age of 18, gave recitals at lots of famous venues and by now has performed in more than 30 countries.

London-based pianist recently was on tour in South-East Asia. During 3 weeks Luka performed and gave master classes in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Mumbai.

He opened the piano music season at the recently renovated Mumbai Royal Opera House, where he was invited by the Mehdi Mehta Foundation. The Ambassador of Georgia in India arrived from New Delhi to Mumbai in order to attend the recital.

During the last three years Luka has won eight 1st prizes at international piano competitions, including -

Hannover Chopin International Piano Competition, Germany (2017), Hong Kong International Piano Competition, China (2016), Norah Sande Award, UK (2016), Morocco Philharmonic International Piano Competition, Morocco (2016), Valencia International Piano Competition "Iturbi Prize", Spain (2015), Tabor Foundation Piano Award at the Verbier Festival, Switzerland (2015), Piano Campus International Competition, France (2015).

Luka has been interviewed and broadcasted by BBC Radio 3, Classic FM, France Musique, Hong Kong Radio 4 and Radio Vltava.

Luka Okros’s CD of works by Schumann was released on DiscAuverS Records and presented in Salle Cortot, Paris, in autumn 2016. The CD was highly acclaimed by music lovers and professional musicians, including a “four out of four” in the French magazine «Classica».

His recordings are available on Spotify, iTunes, YouTube and Amazon.

After the piano recital in Tbilisi, Luka will perform in Valencia (Palau de la Musica), Dublin (Royal Dublin Society Hall), Amsterdam (Het Concertgebouw), and Warsaw (Chopin Museum).
