Police Release Statistics on Killed in Car Accidents
The Georgian Interior Ministry says 107 people were killed in car accidents in the first quarter of 2018.
The statistics have shown that 1, 428 car accidents were registered in the country during the first quarter of the year. 54 cases involved drink-driving.
The Ministry says that 107 people were killed and 1, 986 were injured in car accidents.
The same statistics from 2017 showed the total of 6, 079 car accidents, including 160 drink-driving cases.
517 people were killed and 8,461 – injured last year.
PM says safe learning environment is priority for the gov’t
The Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated that the creation of a safe learning environment in the country’s education institutions is among the government’s top priorities.
The statement came after the presentation of the Action Plan for Education on Monday.
The PM said that certain steps forward have already been taken for a better education system.
"As a result of a joint work of various agencies, the draft of legislative amendments has been created. The amendments envisage encouragement of involvement of psychologists and parents in school processes, as well as ensuring intensive communication with students,” Kvirikashvili said.
The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli presented the Action Plan, which focuses on improvement of the quality of education on different levels.
