Senator Graham: Georgia is the Only, Clearly Pro-western State near Russia

Senator Lindsey Graham told the Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili in Washington on Tuesday that Georgia is the only country in the neighborhood of Russia, which pursues a clearly western policy and does it in a thorough and reasonable manner.
The Senator from South Carolina gave a high appreciation to the reforms implemented by the authorities of Georgia. It was stated that level of the US-Georgia economic cooperation needs to comply with political relations between the two countries.
US Senator reaffirmed the solid support to Georgia and process of its Euro-Atlantic integration. Graham also reiterated his support towards the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.
“Georgia enjoys a strong support from US Senate, as numerously demonstrated before both in its Resolutions and Consolidated Bills with supporting provisions,” Graham stated.
Senators Ron Johnson and Chris Murphy stated that Georgia has a special place in the agenda of the US legislating body.
Ron Johnson, Chairman of Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee and Chris Murphy, Chairman of Foreign Relations Sub-Committee on Europe and Eurasia stressed on the progress achieved by Georgia in recent years through its reform agenda.
Close attention was paid to the current progress in the fight against corruption and steps made towards increased security. Also, attention was paid to the economic growth and development of the country, along with the large infrastructure projects with the engagement of Georgia.
Johnson and Murphy also stated about the significant advancement of Georgia observed in recent years towards integration with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in terms of military reforms, along with political and economic reforms, the Georgian Prime Minister’s press office stated.
Kvirikashvili arrived to the US on Monday and has held several meetings with top US figures.
