Five Georgian Arrested in Spain for Robbery

Spanish law enforcers detained five Georgian members of an organized criminal group – four men and a woman.

The special operation was carried out in the city of Almeria and Madrid. The suspects are accused of robbing 14 apartments.

The investigation showed that the detainees were acting in accordance with the elaborated plan for each crime.

The suspects were detained while leaving the scene after the robbery.

During the search, the police found large amounts of stolen items and tools that were used by the detained Georgians during the robbery of flats.

Last week, 17 members of a criminal group were detained in Athens as a result of a joint operation between Greek and Georgian law enforcement.

New EU-Georgian Format to be Created

The Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated that a new, high-level format will be created for the EU and Georgia to discuss the relations during the press conference held with the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

Within the framework of the new format, President Jean-Claude Juncker, Georgian PM and other members of the European and Georgian governments will gather and discuss the achievements of Georgia’s European integration and future plans.

Juncker visited Georgia to participate in the Independence Day ceremony in central Tbilisi on May 26.

“Georgia has always been a part of Europe and the European Union will protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Juncker said at an Independence Day ceremony in central Tbilisi on Saturday.

The government of Georgia has recently initiated an elaboration of the EU integration roadmap, which will accelerate the process of European integration.
