Four people have been killed and 16 others were injured on Saturday in a fatal car accident of a mini bus transporting schoolchildren to the Kakheti region of Georgia on an excursion.
One of the killed is a kid, three others are adults.
The accident took place at the Gobroni pass and an alleged reason of the fact was malfunction of breaks.
The Interior Ministry has already detained the vehicle driver, who is facing 6-10 years in prison.
"Investigation is underway for violation of traffic safety rules or rules for operating resulting into the death of two or more persons,” the interior ministry said.
The minister of education Mikheil Chkhenkeli said that regulations on school excursions may become stricter.
Out of 19,464 vehicles in Georgia, 14,280 have already been inspected since January 1, 2018, of which 5,050 failed inspection and 134 have been banned.
Mandatory inspection started in Georgia on January 1, 2018 and powerful engine vehicles (+ 3.5 tonnes) and passenger vehicles (+8 seats) were inspected at the first stage.
The next round of inspection will start on July 1, 2018 for vehicles belonging to state agencies and legal entities.
Vehicle testing will be carried out step-by-step and inspection of all vehicles will take about two years.
