OSCE Secretary General visits Georgia
OSCE Secretary General, Thomas Greminger visited Georgia on September 13 for the first time.
Within the frames of the visit, the OSCE Secretary General held various meetings with the President of Georgia, the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and the representatives of the legislative authorities.
The situation in the occupied regions of Georgia in terms of human rights was discussed during the meetings The OSCE Mission to Georgia was established in November 1992 with its headquarters in Tbilisi. The Mission's mandate expired on 31 December 2008.
The Mission assisted the Georgian Government with conflict settlement, democratization, human rights and the rule of law issues.
Georgian President thanks Estonian President for support
Georgian President, Giorgi Margvelashvili held a meeting with the President of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid, who was paying a working visit to Georgia. He thanked her for commitment and strong support for my country.
"I hear your very clear stand on Georgia’s occupation, specifically, on the term of ‘occupation’. I would say, Georgia knows and respects your courageous and strong position. Thank you, Madam President, for being such a friend and such a strong supporter,” Margvelashvili said.
He also noted that Estonia is a clear, bold and sincere voice in all those discussions. Estonian President stressed that there are many paths that Georgia can take to accelerate European integration, including fulfillment of the terms of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Areas (DCFTA) with the European Union and continuation of reformation process.
The topics discussed during the meeting also included strategic partnership, security challenges in the region, outcomes of the Russian occupation, non-recognition policy of the occupied territories, and Estonia’s unwavering support for Georgia. (By Mariam Chanishvili)
