Limitations for knife sale

Knife dealing will be licensed.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has already prepared a draft law under which the knife vending on the stalls will be restricted. Some categories of knives will be licensed and sold only in stores.

The new rules also set standards for safety.

At the same time, the licensing will be based on special criteria, which was developed with the help of specialists and experts Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau.

The MIA will present the draft law to the government in the nearest future, after which the initiative will be sent to the Parliament of Georgia.



Lia Gigauri appointed as Deputy Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality

Former Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Lia Gigauri was appointed as a Deputy Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality in Georgia.

As reported by the Ministry, Gigauri will work on civic equality.

On September 10, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Mikheil Batiashvili dismissed Lia Gigauri, who was the deputy ministers for youth and vocational education, were among those fired, with their positions being completely abolished.

Batiashvili explained the change in the reform of education system, which he said, needs a new vision and new staff policy.

It is worth mentioning that Ketevan Tsikhelashvili is the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality in Georgia and Gigauri was appointed as her deputy.

The State Ministry for Reconciliation and Civic Equality is a governmental agency within the Cabinet of Georgia in charge of coordination and monitoring of activities undertaken towards Georgian–Ossetian and Georgian–Abkhazian conflict resolution, generating new peace initiatives and reintegrating the conflict regions and their population with the rest of Georgia.
