PM asked for a higher number of international observers

Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze made a statement on October 25 at the briefing held before the government meeting that the international observer organizations requested to increase the number of electors in the October 28 presidential elections.

He called on media and observer organizations to work actively throughout the election process.

Mamuka Bakhtadze noted that the October 28 presidential election is another important test for Georgia.

“The government has done everything to make these elections happen in a free and transparent way, in a democratic environment. The society expressed a strong desire to have a genuine European type of pre-election campaign, which, unfortunately, cannot be fully accomplished due to certain political forces. We will not allow any irresponsible political force to discredit the electoral process,” said the prime minister.

He also mentioned that the Ministry of Internal Affairs made sure the citizens had an opportunity to make their choice freely.

The 2018 presidential elections took place on October 28 in Georgia.

Patriarch on Elections

Ilia II, the current Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia and the spiritual leader of the Georgian Orthodox Church, made his decision and voted at the October 28 Presidential Elections.

He voted at the polling station of the Krtsanisi Electoral District, where he was accompanied by Bishop Shio.

"God bless the whole Georgia, we hope that everything will be fine, and Georgia will be happy," said Patriarch after voting and blessed the country.
