Winemaking and Viticulture University to be constructed in Gurjaani

Winemaking and Viticulture University will be built in Gurjaani.
According to Gurjaani MP Davit Songhulashvili, the university will include Wine Laboratory, Small Wine Production and student dormitory.
“This will be an international university, which means that both Georgian and foreign students will study here, researching on winemaking and viticulture, which will bring our municipality a status at a different attitude. As the leadership suggests, it will be ready to admit students by 2020,” he said.
Students will have a chance to receive knowledge and participate in bachelor’s programs by qualified professionals. The university will be equipped with technology in accordance with modern standards, prepared by Caucasus University.
As Songhulashvili says, this decision is final.
The construction of three buildings is considered according to the project: Wine Laboratory, Small Wine Production and student residence.
The project belongs to Caucasus University. According to current information, the bachelor’s program will cost 2250 GEL annually and the professional-1125 GEL. According to the university, this project will support the development of wine and viticulture sector and economic development of the region.
Gurjaani, a town in Georgia’s main Wine region in Kakheti, hosted the International Wine Festival in October. 100 Different varieties of wine were presented at the event, including Qvevri Wine. The visitors had a chance to taste best wines from Kakheti and other parts of Georgian. The festival was designed to promote the development of wine tourism and introduce wine culture local traditions to international and domestic visitors.
