International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice

On November 13, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tbilisi organized an award ceremony for Georgian children, who have participated in the International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice (ICEFA Lidice). This is an annual exhibition, which was established in 1967 to commemorate the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice murdered by the Nazi regime, as well as other children who have died in wars.

Although national initially, this exhibition became an international one in 1973 and since then it has become well known among children and teachers not only in the Czech Republic but all over the world. In recent years, it has been receiving more than 25 000 entries from about 80 countries every year.

The main exposition of the artworks submitted for the exhibition can be viewed at Lidice Gallery from June until the end of November.

Mr. Jiri Preclik, charge d’Affaires a.i of the Embassy of Czech Republic in Georgia called out the names of three Georgian winners of the Exhibition and handed them the Certificates and special gifts. Mr. Preclik gave presents to the number of other children, who lost their family members in Russia-Georgia 2008 war and expressed gratitude towards their art teachers by presenting them with flowers.

In his speech, Mr. Jiri Preclik mentioned that in 2019, as it is 150 years since the Mendeleev Periodic System of Elements, the theme selected in cooperation with UNESCO for the 47th International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts will be “Chemistry”. He urged all the interested to participate in the next exhibition.

Deadline for submitting the works is February 15, 2019. All entries have to be delivered by 1 March 2019. Details and terms of participation can be viewed online at www.mdvv-lidice.cz
