Capital Market Law Development Prospects in Georgia

The forum on "Capital Market Law Development Prospects in Georgia” organized by the Law and Economics Center and supported by TBC Bank, took place at Tbilisi Open University on November 21.

The main goal of the forum was to bring discussions on capital market law prospects in Georgia, deficiencies in this area, problems and legal-economic issues.

The forum is also aimed at establishing the capital market as a discipline in the higher education curriculum for the future.

The event was attended by legal experts, professors, economists and industry stakeholders from various organizations and students.

The representatives of TBC Bank, TBC Capital, Galt & Taggart, Law Firm BLC, Law Firm MKD, Law Firm Nodia Urumashvili, as well as the representatives of National Bank of Georgia, Stock Exchange, Georgian Parliament, Ministry of Justice, judiciary and other law firms.

Various topics including the approximation of Georgian legislative system to the European system in accordance with certain directives were discussed and highlighted during the forum.

George Tkhelidze, TBC Bank Deputy Director noted that the capital market develops fast in Georgia.

“Any capital market transaction requires a complex lawful analysis. The readiness of our specialists and mobilization of resources is really important. We welcome the initiative that was being discussed during the forum that aims to develop the capital market law,” said Tkhelidze.

The Law and Economics Center is based on the Tbilisi State University and Tbilisi Open University Center and aims at studying current legislative and scientific issues in the field of law and economic policy, respond to problems and challenges and inform the public about these issues.
