Leader of political party “Girchi” on Presidential Palace in Tbilisi

One of the leaders of the political party "Girchi", Zurab Japaridze believes that the presidential residence should not be in Tbilisi but in Kutaisi. Zurab Japaridze made this statement at the briefing held in Kutaisi.

“We think that Avlabari Palace should be sold at all. In my opinion, the president's palace should not be in Tbilisi but in Kutaisi, "said Japaridze.

He responded to the demonstration announced by the opposition in Telavi on the day of the elected President-elect’s, Salome Zourabichvili's inauguration.

“Our political party does not join this rally. The opposition has the right to assembly and expression. I hope that the purpose of this rally is not to have some confrontation,” said Japaridze.

Georgia’s newly elected president Salome Zurabishvili is going to relocate the presidential residence from the Presidential Palace in Tbilisi's Avlabari district to Atoneli Street.
