Georgia’s Business House has opened in Guangzhou, China.
The opening of the business house is part of the One Belt, One Road initiative, which aims at enhancing cooperation and regional connectivity.
Ambassador of Georgia to the People's Republic of China, Archil Kalandia and local government officials have participated in the opening ceremony of the chamber of commerce.
Kalandia highlighted the importance of Georgia's active involvement in opening a business house in one of the fastest developing regions of China and the importance of the One Belt, One Road initiative.
Georgia's business house was established by the initiative of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Guangzhou Province, which will promote export and raise awareness of Georgian products on the Chinese market.
China ranks third among Georgia’s trade partners in terms of turnover but ranks fourth with regard to exports.
Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and China came into play on January 1, 2018, making Georgia the first country in the region to have such a deal with China.
Georgia and China are also strengthening cooperation within the ‘One Belt, One Road’ initiative – a vast development strategy starting in China and spanning across Eurasia which includes reviving the Silk Road route for trade.
The Belt and Road Initiative, also known as the One Belt One Road or the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road, is a development strategy adopted by the Chinese government involving infrastructure development and investments in countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
