When asked of whether we should expect a new party or faction led by Eka Beselia, Kobakhidze said he could not say anything about it.

Russia picks woman from Georgian occupied region to head national tourism agency

A woman originally from the Georgian breakaway territory of South Ossetia was Thursday appointed head of Russia’s federal tourism agency Rosturizm, TASS reports.

Prior to her new job, Zarina Doguzova, 33, worked at the communications department at the administration of President Vladimir Putin, where she supervised the division responsible for information and analytical support for major international events, such as the Sochi Olympics 2014 and the World Cup 2018.

Doguzova also used to take part in organizing Putin’s public events, RBK news agency reports.

In 2008, Doguzova graduated the department of journalism at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, MGIMO. It is an academic institution run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, which is widely considered the most elite university in the country. Immediately after graduation, she was offered a job at the press office of then prime minister Vladimir Putin, for whom she continued working after he was elected president in 2012.
