Roma Andreyev, brother of Dimitry Andreyev, a man who is alleged of having uploaded the private life video of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party senior lawmaker, Eka Beselia, says his brother is not guilty and someone stands behind him.

Two days ago, Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) stated Georgian citizen, D.A. was allegedly using Facebook account under the name of Buba Lomtatidze, through which he illegally released videos showing private life of the MP several times.

MIA added the video was uploaded from the prison in Armenia, as Andreyev is serving his term for murder.

The ministry added that the man crossed the border of Georgia together with his wife in November 2016.

Roma Andreyev alleges that someone promised his brother that he would be released from the prison in exchange for using his Facebook account.

“My brother cannot write in Georgian and he did not have secret videos. Perhaps someone promised him to help in getting out of prison as he faces 20 years imprisonment,” he added, calling on the police to find out who stands behind the case.

According to him, he is not aware of how his brother obtained secret videos. He said his brother was apolitical and has not even ever gone to polls.

“I am sure somebody is using him. Somebody is behind him. I am sure the Facebook text does not belong to him, as he cannot fluently speak Georgian”, Andreyev told the Kviris Palitra newspaper.

Eka Beselia is a Former Head of Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee, who resigned at the end of December. Her personal life video was uploaded in late January, and as the MP claims, it was recorded under the United National Movement (UNM) government.

A total of 17 people have been detained for the circulation of the sex tape on the internet. Out of them, seven were ordered by Tbilisi City Court to imprisonment while the rest were released on bail.
