Georgian Judokas leading

The International Judo Federation has renewed the ratings of sportsmen, according to which, among the 10 best judokas in the world, five are from the Georgian national team and two are with Georgian origin.
Varlam Liparteliani, the captain of the Georgian National Judo team, ranks number one in the world with 7908 points, whilst Guram Tushishvili is second with 7752 points. Vazha Margvelashvili, Amiran Papinashvili and Lasha Shavdatuashvili have also placed in the top 10 at positions 6, 9, and 10 respectively.
Captain of the Georgian Judo team Varlam Liparteliani won gold at the Paris Grand Slam international competition on January 11.
The judoka, 29, defeated Japanese Aaron Wolf in the final and obtained the gold medal.
Liparteliani won a Silver Medal at Judo World Championship 2018 in Baku, Azerbaijan, on September 25.
In other European Judo Championships, Liparteliani won gold in 2012, 2014 and 2016, silver in 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2015, and bronze in the 2011 championship.
At the 2016 Olympic Games, Liparteliani won a silver medal.
