On February 10, 2019, the members of the Diplomatic Corps and the International Women’s Organization held the concert choreographed by famous Georgian Dancer Ms. Tea Darchia, who during three weeks worked with the group of amateurs - a group of women, among others the Ambassador of Turkey to Georgia Ms. Fatma Ceren Yazgan, wives of ambassadors/diplomats and other international women, who want to show appreciation and respect for Georgian culture by learning to dance traditional Georgian dances.
The concert is a part of the project called EMB-RACE dedicated to breast cancer awareness. It was initiated by Ms. Katarina Tidestrom, wife of the Ambassador of Sweden to Georgia, in the interview she said: “First of all we try to deliver our solidarity to women with breast cancer worldwide and in this case, particularly to Georgian women. By learning Georgian dances we try to feel and apprehend Georgian soul”.
The ladies involved in the project performed short pieces/potpourri/from three Georgian dances: Samaia, Simd, Acharuli. They have united to show their support for women with breast cancer and “to transfer the feeling of a different kind of strength, power of wholeness”, said Ms. Petra Benko, wife of the Ambassador of Austria to Georgia.
The next event is planned for March 3, 2019, presenting a full program, in the framework of the project Women for Women.
