Georgia’s economy growth in January of 2019
As stated by the National Statistics Office of Georgia the estimated real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate in January 2019 equaled 3.5 per cent y-o-y.
According to the latest data, For January 2019 in comparison to January 2018 results, the estimated real growth was projected in the following activities : Trade, Hotels and restaurants, Financial intermediation and Real estate, renting and business activities. A decrease was registered in Manufacturing and Construction.
As the statistics of external merchandise trade show, In January 2019 compared to the same month of the previous year, there was an increase in the income from exports.
Different international financial institutions like The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and The World Bank also forecast Georgian economy to grow by 4.6% and 5%, respectively.
US Congressmen believe that funds have to be allocated as an answer to Russia’s intrusion and occupation of Georgia
A draft-bill defending American Security from Kremlin Aggression Act (DASKA) which also mentions Georgia has been issued by the US congress.
The document clearly states that the resources should be used against the destabilization caused by Russia’s military intervention, occupation outcomes and humanitarian crisis and it also supports civil society, media and non-governmental organizations.
The bill has yet to be reviewed by the Congress and signed by Donald Trump.
The Defending American Security from Kremlin Aggression Act (DASKAA) was introduced by Senators Lindsey Graham, Bob Menendez ,Cory Gardner, Ben Cardin , John McCain (R-AZ), and Jeanne Shaheen on August 2, 2018.
Senator Graham criticized Russia’s politics and supported countries under its oppression as he said : “Our goal is to change the status quo and impose crushing sanctions and other measures against Putin’s Russia until he ceases and desists meddling in the US electoral process, halts cyber-attacks on US infrastructure, removes Russia from Ukraine, and ceases efforts to create chaos in Syria”
