Cooperation of Georgia’s and Vanuatu’s FMs in Tbilisi

The first official visit of Vanuatu’s Minister of Foreign affairs to Georgia took place in Tbilisi, where Georgia’s and Vanuatu’s FMs, Davit Zalkaliani and Ralph Regenvanu signed an agreement on mutual cooperation.

As FM Davit Zalkaliani stated, their first meeting was very beneficial and meaningful. They discussed regional and global issues, as well as the main directions of cooperation between Georgia and Vanuatu. Zakaliani referred to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Foreign affairs between the two countries as a clear example of deepening mutual relations between the countries. “We highly appreciate a strong support of Vanuatu's government for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders - Zalkaliani said.

Davit Zalkaliani also expressed gratitude towards the Republic of Vanuatu for carrying out a stable unrecognized policy of “so-called independence of Georgia’s regions that are under Russia’s oppression.”

According to Zalkaliani, both ministers consider this cooperation to be very important and special and look forward to continuing their partnership.

European Parliament Resolution on EU-Russia Relations touches upon Georgia

The European Parliament (EP) received recently a decision on the current state of EU-Russia political relations, according to which Russia cannot be considered a ‘strategic partner'”, and in this way calls for substantive amendment of the partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA).

The resolution contains a list of Russia’s infringement of worldwide laws and traditions and records particular occasions where Russia directly debilitates the EU, its individuals and the neighboring states.

The resolution also mentions Georgia, referring to its occupied territories 10 years after the Russian invasion, in which it has condemned Russia’s occupation of Georgian territories.

In the operational part, the EP : “condemns Russia’s continuous violation of the territorial integrity of Georgia and Moldova constitute a deliberate violation of international law, democratic principles and fundamental values”

The resolution also condemns Russia’s violation of territorial integrity of neighboring countries including through the illegal kidnapping of citizens of those countries so that they can be charged before a Russian court.

According to the resolution “the business as usual only can be possible if Russia fully respects the rules and restricts itself to acting in a peaceful manner”.
