Georgia’s PM Pays Working Visit to Japan

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Mamuka Bakhtadze is paying an official working visit to Tokyo, Japan, where he was hosted by the Japanese Foreign Minister, Taro Kono.
Discussions were related to the development of cooperation between Georgia and Japan. It was noted that the visit of the Head of Government of Georgia will advance the bilateral relations to a new level.
Bakhtadze will launch a Japan-Georgia Business Forum and Exhibition titled as Georgia - Homeland of Wine, apart from series of high-level meetings within the scope of his visit.
The PM highlighted cooperation between Georgia and Japan and expressed hopes to advance the bilateral relations to a new level.
"For us, the most important part of our interaction is people to people relations. I do believe that as people to people relations are so great among the two nations, it will be a great precondition for us to strengthen our cooperation both in political and economic fields. Also, we would like to see more Japanese friends coming from Japan to Georgia, having more businesses between two nations,” he stated.
He also focused on the support of Japan in various directions, including the funding of significant projects, prospects of deepened economic cooperation.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister of Georgia for warm hospitality enjoyed in Tbilisi.
"We had wonderful discussions. I hope the Prime Minister's visit to Japan will be a fruitful one. We really appreciate His Excellency's visit to Japan. We look forward to strengthening our bilateral relationship" noted Taro Kono.
Moreover, during the meeting with Ichiro Aisawa, Member of the House of Representatives of Japan and Chairman of the Japan-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group, the PM of Georgia discussed the development of political and economic relations between Georgia and Japan, along with a deepened cooperation in various directions.
Implementation of joint projects in the field of education and on sharing the Japanese experience in this field was also mentioned by the sides.
As noted, the Joint Business Forum to be held in Tokyo this week will facilitate the intensified trade and economic relations between the two countries, along with the current potential of tourism.
