Amiran Gamkrelidze- The dynamics of getting infected with measles have decreased

According to 16 March data, 2385 measle cases have been reported in Georgia, informs the Director of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health Amiran Gamkrelidze.

Also, according to him, the dynamics of morbidity have decreased during the past three weeks.

“ The increase is not as rapid anymore as in January- February. Since January 19, more than 100,000 people have been vaccinated, which is good, but if we want to abolish measle, we have to vaccinate 250000 people more during the year. The main call is valid: People who don’t remember whether they have had measle or have been vaccinated must be vaccinated unquestionably. There is enough supply of vaccine which qualified by the World Health Organization and is of high quality. All these procedures are funded by the state. We encourage all parents to check their children’s vaccination calendar. If the child has not been vaccinated twice at the age of 1 and 5, bring children to polyclinics and vaccinate them”- Gamkrelidze stated. (By Anita Magradze)
