Design and Future Cities - Exhibition and seminar with Italian architects

Design and Future Cities - Exhibition and a seminar with Italian architects took place on March 20 at Karvasla Museum in Tbilisi.

The event took place within the frames of Italian Design Day, which is a promotion project launched by the Italian Foreign Ministry to highlight the excellence of Italian design around the world.

Italian Design Day is celebrated in cities around the world thanks to the efforts of Embassies, Consulates, and Italian Cultural Institutes, within the scope of the broader promotional strategy of the “Italian Way of Life” campaign.

Seminar "Architecture, Design and Future City" was organized by the Italian Embassy in Georgia, Italian architects, designers and Landscape Architects’ National Council, Georgian National Museum In collaboration with Free University.

The main theme of the seminar was the link between the design, the future cities and the role of the design in terms of ecological and innovative solutions and the "smart cities’” transformation process.

The main goal of the seminar was to present ideas and projects that are interesting and important for the improvement of the quality of life in the city.

The seminar was opened by the Ambassador of Italy H.E. Antonio Bartoli, Professor and the member of National Council of Architects of Italy, Livio Sacchi and the head of Free University Architecture Program, Jesse Vogler.

Various projects were presented by Francesco Magnani (MAP Studio), Stefano Ragazzo (Orizzontale), Barbara Camocini (Politecnico di Milano), Mauro Annunziato (ENEA), etc.

Venice Tram Platform project awarded by Italian architectural prize in 2018 and a project of the Venice Architecture Biennale Exhibition Pavilion were presented.

It is worth mentioning that the award for Young Talent in Italian Architecture 2018 was presented to numerous architects, including Stefano Ragazzo, for their Progetto 8 ?, a temporary installation created for Maxxi in Rome as part of the YAP Young Architects Program 2014.

The exhibition "Italian Architecture Prize 2018" was opened alongside the seminar, where the best architecture prizes of Italy were presented. The exhibition is open to the visitor until March 30, 2019.
