From April 14, 2019, visa on arrival will be available to Georgian citizens who travel to Thailand.

The simplified visa regime will enable Georgians to travel freely to Thailand, obtain a visa on arrival and stay within the area for up to 15 days.

Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reports that Georgian and Thai citizens, owning a diplomatic and official passport, as well as office-related passports, are already exempt from visa requirements as of March 14, 2019. The agreement was signed by the countries on September 26, 2018.

“An official delegation from Thailand is set to visit Georgia on March 31 – April 2. The delegation will include the Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, as well as representatives of Thailand International Cooperation Agency,” said MFA.

During the visit, the first round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Georgia and Thailand will be held, during which the parties will discuss prospects of further development and cooperation between the two countries.

The Visa on Arrival allows passport holders of specific countries to enter Thailand under this rule provided that they meet these requirements:

- The visit is strictly for tourism purposes.

- The passport must be genuine and should be valid for at least 30 days.

- You must have a valid address in Thailand whether a hotel or apartment that can be verified.

- You must have a confirmed return ticket to show that they are flying out of Thailand within 15 days of entry, as appropriate. You may be asked to show your flight ticket on entering Thailand. If you do not possess a flight ticket to show that you will be exiting Thailand within 15 days of entry you will be most likely refused entry.

- It will also be necessary to prove that you have funds of at least 10,000 THB per person and 20,000 THB per family during your stay in Thailand.

- A fee of 2,000 THB is payable upon entry and is subject to change without notice. It must be paid in cash and the Thai currency only.
