Women expressing a willingness to run buses unable to work because of the absence of vacancies

Women interested in bus driver’s vacancies have already been prepared and trained for the job, however, at this stage, Tbilisi Transport Company does not have any vacancies.

“25 women have passed the course under the program. 21 out of them already have a driver’s license and the other 4 are willing to get one. Three groups have been created out of these 21 women, who are going through two-week practical studies, getting introduced to the routes and the “inside-cuisine” of the company. After the completion of the training process, if there are vacant places and if these women meet our requirements, they will be gradually employed. We do not have any vacancies at the company now. Somehow, everyone thinks that after the new busses were brought, new vacancies would be automatically guaranteed, which is not true. New busses are replacing the old ones, accordingly, old drivers continue to be employed.”- reports the Transport company.

Also, according to them, up to 1400 drivers are employed at Tbilisi Transport Company, 2 of which are women.
