Lukashenko about Poroshenko and Saakashvili

As the acting president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko states, he and Petro Poroshenko used to have a common friend - Mikheil Saakashvili.

When asked about which candidate he supports in Ukraine’s presidential elections, he responded that he would not compare the two of the candidates with each other.

“I know one of them very well and I have seen the other one only in movies - I do not know him as a politician. But I will tell you one thing from my life experience: Petro Poroshenko and I used to have a common friend - Mikheil Saakashvili. When he was the president of Georgia, he changed the constitution before holding elections and then he did some funny things, as a result of which, he had to escape from the country. Petro Poroshenko should do his best to gain people’s support”- Lukashenko said.



President of National Karate Federation accused of misappropriation of state funds

The Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service has launched criminal proceedings against Kakha Basilia, President of the National Karate Federation.

According to the investigation establishment, the Ministry of Culture and Sports has allocated finances for members of the Georgian karate team to take part in the 9th Shotokan Championship in Istanbul. Kakha Basilia, President of the Georgian Karate National Federation, submitted false documentation to the Ministry of Culture and Sport, according to which 10 delegates of the national team were sent to the championship when in fact only 4 sportsmen took part in the competition.

As the State Security Service reports, Kakha Basilia misappropriated 10441 GEL.

If convicted, the committed crime envisages from 6 to 9 years of imprisonment.
