Statement on Ambassador Wilson’s Departure
Ambassador Ross Wilson, who has served as American Charge d’Affaires in Tbilisi since early November, will be departing Georgia and returning to private life upon completion of his temporary assignment in mid-May. He was honored to have the opportunity to represent the United States in Georgia and to further develop our bilateral relationship. After his departure, Elizabeth Rood will resume her role as Charge d’Affaires with the full confidence of Washington.

New infrastructure projects in Tbilisi
New infrastructure projects will be carried out in Tbilisi.
There will be three ropeways added to the capital – Akhmeteli-Temka, Samgori-Vazisubani, and Sameba Cathedral-Makhata Mountain.
It is yet unclear which one of the three ropeways will be constructed first. There are special studies planned in this regard.
The construction of ropeways is envisaged in the Tbilisi General Plan.
Current Condition Of Commercial Banks' Assets
In March 2019, compared to the previous month, the total assets of Georgian commercial banks (in current prices) increased by 464.7 million GEL (by 1.2 percent) and constituted 39.4 billion GEL (exchange rate effect excluded above-mentioned indicator increased by 1.2 percent).
Georgia to aid Iranians affected by floods
Georgia will send humanitarian aid to the Islamic Republic of Iran. An official command has been issued by the government. The aid will benefit those who were affected by the natural disaster.
Last month, a continued rainfall has caused floods in 586 cities and villages across Iran. Flood water has destroyed infrastructure, livestock, agriculture, and livelihoods, with estimated damage USD 150,000 million, in two provinces alone. Almost 100 people were killed and under 800 injured.
Georgia will hand over to Iran the resources that are on the balance of the Emergency Management Service of Georgia, including water reservoirs, water filters, sleeping bags, and blankets.
The total worth of the resources is GEL 89 164.
